About Grace
My name is Grace Barber-Jordan, and I have been a counselor at Hill Country Bible Church for the past 3 years and a Licensed Professional Counselor for 10 years. My counseling focus is helping people cope with the symptoms related to emotional distress.
Emotional distress can show up as physical symptoms, ruminating thoughts, or a downcast spirit.
My goal with clients is to create an environment where clients feel supported as I learn their story and we work together to alleviate the negative symptoms related to their challenges or concerns.
I utilize an integrative approach to treatment that involves selecting techniques from different therapeutic orientations best suited to a client's particular need. The counseling modalities that I use may include Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Brain spotting protocol (BSP), and Somatic Experiencing Psychotherapy (SEP) or others.
Areas of focus include: Anxiety, Depression, Career Change, Parenting, Caregiving, Illness, Academic Concerns, PTSD and Developmental Concerns (All ages)
In addition to a Master of Arts in Counseling degree from St. Edward’s University, and counseling certification from Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary, I hold a Master of Higher Education Administration degree from Dallas Baptist University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Texas A&M University.
My counseling experience includes working with adults, college students, and children. I have counseled at Texas State University and counseled and taught at ACC and counseled at STARRY (Serving Texas at Risk and Runaway Youth) and The Texas Baptist Children’s Home. Prior to becoming a counselor, I worked for the Texas A&M University System.
