Our Elders

Hill Country Bible Church is led by a group of elders. This type of church leadership is modeled after the New Testament church. According to 1 Peter 5:2-3, elders are called to care for God’s people and lead them. A biblical elder is happy to serve and a good example of Christ to the ones they lead. They are not greedy or power hungry. Our elders have been invited to serve based on these and other guidelines found in Scripture. To be invited they must model maturity in faith and godliness and must also be affirmed by the church body.

ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING
September 28, 20205

Join us for Hill Country's Annual Business meeting on Sunday, September 28 at 7pm in the North Auditorium. During the meeting, we'll celebrate some of the many ways God moved in and through Hill Country during this past fiscal year ending August 31, review financial information, and look ahead with expectation and excitement to the coming year. We'll also vote on a new elder candidate.

Elder Candidate — Martin West

Martin was born in Panama and grew up in Northern California. There he met his incredible wife of 28 years Nicole. Together they have been blessed with three amazing children Devin, Anissa, and Elijah.  They all moved to Austin in 2007.

Martin and Nicole began attending Hill Country Bible Church in 2011 after being invited by their brand-new next door neighbors. It was during these next few years that his relationship with God truly grew. In 2018, Martin, Nicole and their youngest son Elijah were baptized at the Brushy Creek campus.  Martin and Nicole find great joy in serving together and  have served in several ministries and events — Great Adventure, Kids, Discover Hill Country, Groups, and Men's/Women’s, and last year got to achieve a dream by going on a mission trip to Japan.

Martin has worked in Retail Operations for the last 36 years and loves that God has placed him in an industry that affords him so many chances to live out and share his faith with others. In his spare time, he loves spending time with his family and friends, traveling, exploring outdoors, and home improvement projects.
